Schoolgirl Strikers – Animation Channel Episode 7 Review – “Clash! The Two Formidable Enemies”

So long to the episodic format and hello to opponents that are actually challenging!

(Spoilers in this review

Even though Satoka was in a rush to buy cream curry bread, she stops and talks with a newly introduced girl who makes an excuse in order to touch Satoka’s hand. And then she accidentially cramps her leg while celebrating.

Altair Torte decides to train, so they enter the fifth dimension area where there are no O’bli. Yet somehow there’s an unknown opponent named Odile, Knight of the Black Swan, aiming for them. She wipes the floor with them (while somehow summoning their own weapons) – but retreats after getting a leg cramp. It’s pretty obvious who she is, but the show makes sure you know for certain. Evidentially she needed to touch the hands of any Altair Torte member in order to follow after them into the fifth dimension∼

Altair Torte tries telling Pryocon Pudding about this mysterious enemy, but they’re skeptical. However, they end up running into three different opponents popped into the fifth dimension with no prior warning, just like Odile, and they proceeded to wipe the floor with Pryocon Pudding. Apparently they’ve been the ones releasing O’bli in the fifth dimension, too.

Apparently Mana was raised in an orphanage and those three girls are the Origami sisters. They were friends with Mana before they abruptly disappeared. As it turns out, Mana and Io also knew each other as kids and that Mana still considers Io as her prince. I’m all for childhood friend romance, I guess.

The last tidbit before the episode ends shows that the Origami sisters now work for the suspicious science teacher and that they’re actually supposed to be targeting Altair Torte and only Altair Torte.

Thoughts on this episode:

  • Odile is a pretty goofy character. I like her. Too bad the show isn’t shy in making her a huge source of fanservice.
  • The three girls sure have very different hair colors despite being sisters. But I really shouldn’t be questioning the realism of anime, right? Especially considering that I’m talking about this show.
  • The discussion between Mana and Io had some of the worst flow I’ve ever seen. Don’t look at me like that. Conversations have flow! If you ask someone if they like bananas, their response should answer the question concerning bananas and not be about how much they like marbles, for example. Some horrid scriptwriting happens in that scene and kind of made me embarrassed to watch this show.
  • Still, the show finally stopped messing around and now the girls are fighting strong opponents instead of mindless O’bli mooks. Now there’s actually a source of tension and conflict within the show. Just took ’em 6 episodes!

    1. They seriously suck.
They’re pretty nice, yeah. I try my best to avoid the off-model moments!

I really should be trying to do so, but I take so long to write up these episode reviews and now I’m trying to balance those weekly Wednesday posts and blitzing through visual novels that have been out for months. Gaaah. I need to play less mahjong.

      1. I can completely understand. Your reviews seem time-consuming and games also take time. We need more than 24 hours.

        Or a time turner.
