Girlish Number Episode 12 Review – “Karasuma Chitose and…”

The last episode featuring our lovable yet annoying heroine!

(Spoilers in this review

It’s the final dubbing session for Kusure and the trains have stopped running. Chitose starts wondering if she should even bother going there since she made the mood awkward last time.

vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h48m20s524
And then she receives a text message on thatappeveryoneisusingakaLINE
vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h48m26s643
Oh, it’s Gojo-kun.
vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h48m31s219
Not too encouraging.
vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h48m35s518
But it’s encouraging enough!
vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h48m40s875
She’s off to save the day!
vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h49m01s011
And then the OP plays. Looks like she’s reclaimed her spot as the main heroine!

As Chitose runs, the girls talk about the possibility of her not showing up. Seems like everyone is waiting on only Chitose.

vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h53m38s755
And the girls start sending messages to Chitose on LINE.
vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h53m44s103
I guess Momoka was the first one and Yae sent this one?
vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h53m48s382
This could only be Koto.
vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h55m02s852
And this has to be Kazuha.
vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h55m07s635
She looks depressed,
vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h55m12s040
but the messages let her know that she has a job to do.
vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h58m27s820
Unfortunately she went too fast and tripped.
vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h58m33s367
Oh, wow, she’s wearing so little in this weather.
vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h58m38s554
Our contender has gotten up! She’s not down for the count!
vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h58m45s805
Damn.
vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h58m56s445
Despite this setback,
vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h59m03s030
the main heroine
vlcsnap-2016-12-28-23h59m06s593
has to press on!

As she rushes towards the studio, Kuzu-P and Towada-AP try to see if they can reschedule the dubbing in case Chitose can’t make it. However, that’s not a feasible option due to outrageously high penalty fees if they were to do that.

vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h03m26s697
Chitose, you are an amazing person for running during the winter time in a skirt.
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h03m04s444
Why are they giving her such dirty looks??

This episode really has all the characters talking about Chitose again, by the way. Gojo-kun basically secures his male harem, too.

vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h07m07s996vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h07m15s888vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h07m22s932vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h07m28s217vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h07m33s310vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h07m39s428vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h07m42s585

The heroine has finally arrived! But now she has to figure out how to act in front of her peers and co-workers…vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h09m15s760vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h09m23s063vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h09m30s156vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h09m43s013vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h10m06s396

Of course Kuzu and her assistant manager are thrilled to see her, but what of the others? I would wager that this scene is the scene most of the viewers were waiting to see. We finally get to see Chitose acknowledge to everyone that she isn’t special, but that it’s okay and she’ll still try her best.

But first, we get this comedy gold from Kuzu-P.vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h11m50s902vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h12m24s659vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h12m27s960vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h12m30s995vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h12m36s849vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h12m42s400

And then the heartfelt speech!vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h12m49s487vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h12m56s087vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h13m05s017vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h14m45s166vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h14m49s746vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h15m03s642vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h15m09s643vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h15m15s196vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h15m37s410vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h15m44s107vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h15m48s901vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h15m54s801vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h16m21s939vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h16m29s114vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h16m39s489vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h20m03s187vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h25m42s648vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h25m48s626vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h25m55s589

Thankfully everyone accepts Chitose and her speech. Then they get to work! It’s a bit sad that she didn’t interact with Koto at all, though.vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h33m52s944vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h33m57s941vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h34m05s394vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h34m12s078vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h34m20s184vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h34m42s882vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h34m50s133vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h34m56s357vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h35m00s430vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h35m28s125vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h35m43s243vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h35m35s109vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h35m50s475vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h36m15s205vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h36m20s384vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h36m25s664vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h36m33s590vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h36m40s882vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h36m46s666vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h36m52s122vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h37m05s031vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h37m08s887vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h37m25s137vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h37m34s482

Her words seemed to have reached the light novel author, too. Hooray!vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h37m50s496vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h37m56s003vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h38m01s216vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h38m07s655vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h39m01s259vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h39m05s462vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h39m10s453vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h39m15s252

Meanwhile, the five girls are about to kill this dubbing session.vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h44m58s144vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h45m04s584vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h45m07s954vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h45m13s395vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h45m20s799

The production staff decides to keep a scene that was good even though it would be cut. As a result, Kuzu-P and Towada-AP have to head out to beg. It’s tough being a producer, huh? All we’ve seen is them beg or kneel.

vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h49m25s026
No, thank you, Chitose.
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h49m29s125
Oh, that name sounds so familiar.

Even though the pay for these promotion events is low and participating isn’t mandatory, Momoka and Kazuha opt to join Koto, Yae, and Chitose. They’re truly friends now, huh?

vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h51m39s137vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h51m46s799vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h51m51s623vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h52m44s365vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h52m49s153vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h52m53s785vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h52m59s111vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h53m03s375vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h53m07s749vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h53m12s631vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h53m17s182

Oh, man, she’s so happy! Chitose looks so fulfilled!

vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h54m27s660
And then Chitose wakes up after some deep sleep.
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h54m33s430
Gojo-kun had to arrive at the venue early so he couldn’t wake her up.
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h54m46s456
1 PM, huh? That’s pretty reasonable.
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h54m59s406
CHITOSE YOU GIANT SLEEPYHEAD
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h55m36s350
I actually think this is the cutest Chitose has ever been in this series even though her face kind of resembles that of a Charlie Bown character.
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h55m46s113
Onii-chan giving it to her straaaaight.
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h56m18s388
The assistant manager has arrived!
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h56m26s614
But he caanot save the day because he is not a hero.
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h56m32s123
Do people call him Checks? Because his eyebrow game is strong ✓
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h56m47s939
Kuzu-P also is late to the event.
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h57m34s365
They’re riding in a taxi! Or maybe an Uber. Are Ubers a thing in Japan?
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h57m43s634
Chitose stole his line and my heart because she’s been so cool this episode.
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h58m08s826
Awww, check her out. Apparently this is the image Gojo-kun has of Chitose on his phone.
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h57m59s255
And it alernates between the facade and the Chitose that we all know (shown above). When did phone technology get this amazing?
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h59m12s704
Kuzu-P holding off a legion of fanboys.
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h59m23s293
CHITOSE IS SAVAGE
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h59m46s348
CHITOSE IS COOL
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-00h59m59s661
“M-my imouto is so different now”
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-01h00m14s337
“But it’s for the better.”
vlcsnap-2016-12-29-01h00m32s251
Is Gojo-kun really allowed to be there? In the make-up room? I guess it’s seperate from the dressing room?

The girls do a group huddle thing and Chitose says what’s expected of her. Everyone has a good time, though.

vlcsnap-2016-12-29-01h01m07s360vlcsnap-2016-12-29-01h01m30s691vlcsnap-2016-12-29-01h01m36s845vlcsnap-2016-12-29-01h01m52s785vlcsnap-2016-12-29-01h01m57s374vlcsnap-2016-12-29-01h02m17s928vlcsnap-2016-12-29-01h02m30s543vlcsnap-2016-12-29-01h02m34s421vlcsnap-2016-12-29-01h02m38s568vlcsnap-2016-12-29-01h02m42s914

The performance goes swimmingly well. You should watch it for yourself!

Afterwards, everyone meets up at that swanky bar. The episode ends with Kuzu-P rushing into said bar in order to announce another project. They should be able to handle it this time, right?

Some shipping going on here in this group photo and I’m fine with it.

Wow, this series was something to review. I’m sorry this particular episode review was so heavy with pictures. It’s like 4:40 am and I have to go work so bleh.

…maybe I made even more work for myself by including so many pictures, you say? Maybe, maybe.

Anyways, I’m going to reviewing Girlish Number as soon as I can. I’m aiming for Friday since later today I have to watch the last episode of Flip Flappers. Take care, everyone!

  1. So the final episode seems to have been the fluffy, heartwarming type. Looking forward to that review!

Btw, I’m curious: Have you decided which shows to watch next season?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Mmm it was. I guess it’s for the better the show didn’t get too satirical. Thanks, I’ll try not to disappoint.

Mmmm I have! I think. Alane asked me on Twitter earlier this week so I finally looked through the chart.

      Koabayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon
      Urara Meirochou
      Gabriel Dropout
      Minami Kamakura Koukou Johi Jitensha-bu
      BanG Dream!
      Schoolgirl Strikers: Animation Channel
      Nyanko Days
      Piace: Watashi no Italian
      Idol Jihen

…are the ones I’ll do series reviews on. I’m thinking of not doing episode reviews next season since I’ve fallen behind on yuri visual novels. Will write a post about that soon.

(And off the books I will be watching Demi-chan wa Kataritai, since my brother recommended it, and Seiren, since I watched Amagami SS back when I was a wee high school lad)

      1. I’m curious about the Dragon Maid one but I’ll wait before deciding whether or not to watch it. You seem to have a nice selection though – best of luck with them. Fair enough about episodics. They do eat up time and the VNs deserve some love too!

As for me…I’m interested in ACCA but I won’t be watching it while it airs. I’ve started Natsume Yuujinchou and it seems promising so I’ll stick to that plus the episodics of Btooom.

      2. Alrightyyy. I’ll try to ‘suade you while I watch it. Or maybe I’ll warn you instead. We will see.
It’s a lot, wahaha, but thanks. They doooo. They’re a bit underdeveloped compared to anime outside of Japan so I gotta promote!
Mmm all sounds like good shows. Let’s watch Btooom together!

  2. Not how I expected the series to end. Admittedly I didn’t get very far into it but reading what other people have said I kind of expected something more dramatic for an ending. Thanks for sharing.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. No, I thought the same thing for most of the series. And then towards the end I finally realized that the series was going for an ending that would be fluffier than what I originally expected. Oh, well.

      Thanks for dropping by!
